Governance
In
today's challenging private health and aged care environments,
the exercising of a governance function carries significant responsibilities.
The Rockhampton Sisters of Mercy incorporated their health and
aged care ministries in 2001 with the birth of Mercy Health and
Aged Care Central Queensland Limited. With incorporation, the
role of the Board and Board Committees assumed an even greater
importance. Mercy Health and Aged Care Central Queensland Limited
is indeed fortunate to have a very talented, hard working Board
of Directors and Committee Members who give generously of their
time and expertise.
Central to the work of the Board and Committee Members is their
commitment to the Mission, Vision and Philosophy of the Sisters
of Mercy. Whilst exercising financial, legal and operational due
diligence, those in a governance role have to give primacy in
their policy deliberations to the core values of the organisation.
The knowledge that Board and Committee Members have of the legislative
and regulatory requirements that are applicable to health and
aged care providers ensures the organisation develops and implements
appropriate policies.
